You can help Bath Community Hospital realize its goal to purchase of a new, fully equipped advanced life support ambulance by giving to our 4th Annual Fund Drive.

In the fall of 2004, our friends and neighbors made a very important gift to Bath Community Hospital, the gift of our own advanced life support ground transportation service.

Rural communities like ours offer a special quality of life, but we are also relatively isolated. And though the majority of our emergency room patients are treated and released, there are those who require further evaluation by a specialist. Before establishing an in-house ambulance service, we relied on private companies to transport our patients to the appropriate medical facilities, which often meant a wait time of several hours due to poor weather conditions or other commitments.

Thanks to your generous donations, in 2005, we put into action two re-outfitted emergency vehicles, and a highly skilled emergency transport team. In just two years, we have made great strides. Immediately, we were able to reduce the wait time for transport from several hours to approximately 45 minutes. In our first year of service, we transported 475 patients, 300% more than our projected 125. In the first sixth months alone of 2006, we transported 410 patients. As you can see, the demand has far exceeded our expectations.

Today, our ambulance service is a highly successful program that has proven to be extremely valuable to our community. As a result, we are faced with a new problem; the costly problem of equipment that will need to be replaced much sooner than originally anticipated.

The Bath Community Hospital Foundation is asking for your tax deductible donation to finance the purchase of a new, fully equipped advanced life support ambulance at a cost of $142, 641.00. In the past, your generous support has been a source of encouragement to all of us who work to provide quality heath care for our community.
